Mildred Shutters

PEKIN - Mildred A. Shutters, 101, of Pekin passed away at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Pekin Manor.

She was born Jan. 29, 1906, in Seymour, Ind., to Willard and Una (Lemons) Young. She married Clarence Shutters on March 31, 1923, in Seymour, Ind. He passed away on July 27, 1973, in Pekin.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Shutters (Fabry); two sisters; two brothers; and her parents.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Vicki (Richie) Sperling of Jackson, Ga., Linda (David) Hughes of Pekin, Tammy Jo Orr of McDonough, Ga., and Michael (Tracy) Fabry of Pekin; and four great-grandchildren, Stephanie Wallace, Jamie Orr, Ryan Fabry and Alyssa Fabry.

Mildred worked at American Distillery for eight years. She then became a homemaker.

She had a love and a passion for gardening, canning and quilting. She enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Fla., with her twin sisters and their husbands.

Mildred was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin.

Private family graveside services will be held in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Woolsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
