Nathan W. Shortt
BRISTOL, Va. – Nathan Wayne Shortt, age 41, 120 Douglas St., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Bristol Virginia and son of Minnie Sproles Shortt and the late Elwood Shortt. He was a graduate of Virginia High School and Virginia Highlands Community College, a carpenter and plumber and served seven years in U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include his mother, Minnie Sproles Shortt; grandmother, Ruth Bixby; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandy Shortt; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Ken Sauls; nephews, Travis Sauls and wife Lori and Michael Robinson; niece, Charlotte Hanks and husband, Woody; great-nieces and great-nephews, Katelyn and Walker Sauls, Alexis Hanks and Tyler Robinson. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles; and special friends, J.W. and Perry Addison, and Sam and Mary Ann Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Burnett officiating, assisted by Rev. Joe Hudson and Rev. Donald Page. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers: Travis Sauls, Woody Hanks, Michael Robinson, Jeff Worley, Jeff Caudell, J.W. Addison, Mark Powers and Sam Jones. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Weaver Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 120 Douglas St., Bristol, Va.
