Richard W. Buker

AVON ? Richard Watson Buker, 71, Avon, died Wednesday at the Ruth Lilly Hospice, Yellow Rose Unit in Indianapolis.

Born May 15, 1936, he was the son of Guy Watson and Dora (Barnes) Buker. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1954 and the Indiana Mortuary School in 1955.

During his lifetime, Richard worked for Reed Funeral Home in Columbus; Prudential Life Insurance Company in Columbus, Bloomington and Kokomo; Bloomington Police Department; Peacock Funeral Home in Kokomo; Underwood Distributing in Indianapolis; and ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis. During his 18 year career at ITT , Richard was a Senior Recruiter and was honored as Top Producer and Employee of the Year for several years. He retired from ITT in 1991. He was a member of Avon United Methodist Church, the Bloomington Fraternal Order of Police, St. Luke?s United Methodist Church in Kokomo and St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bloomington.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Ann (Noel) Buker; his children: Jeanette (Doug) Ramer, R. Scott (Linda) Buker, Meri Lyn (Steve) Bisch, and Philip (Becca) Lucas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Byron Buker and wife Carolyn of Bedford; two nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Eric Paul Buker.

Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Avon United Methodist Church, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Additional services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer with visitation from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, in Spencer.
