Virgie Fleenor

BRISTOL, Va. – Virgie Mae Hawks Fleenor, 74, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Fleenor was born in Shady Valley, Tenn., and had been a resident of Washington County, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lee Fleenor, one brother, Weston Hawks, and one sister, Mary Berkey.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Fleenor of Bristol Virginia; two sons, Walt Fleenor of Bristol Virginia and Gregg Fleenor and wife Debbie of Bristol Tennessee; three sisters, Lola Vermillion of Bristol Virginia and Leona Forrester and Georgia Hamlin, both of Shady Valley, and two brothers, Marvin Hawks and Jesse Hawks, both of Shady Valley. Also surviving are one grandson, Ryan Fleenor, and three granddaughters, Suzanne Fleenor, Jessica Fleenor and Stefanie Fleenor, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, in Akard Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Walt Simmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Hobbs, Jimmy Hobbs, Phillip McCroskey, Kent Tignor, Dale Ryan and Ryan Fleenor.
