Obituary - Avedies "Dinny" Sunukjian
Melrose - Avedies 'Dinny' Sunukjian, 91, passed away on December 3, 2006
at Heritage House after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Moses and Nouritza Sunukjian. He
enlisted and served during WWII in the US Navy from 1942 - 1945 on a supply
ship in the Pacific Theater.
Subsequent to the war, he was a meat cutter and part owner of the Arrow Cash
Market, Troy, and later owner of the IGA Market in Melrose, NY. He served
his community as a volunteer fireman in the Melrose Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife Lucie Dakessian Sunukjian. He is survived by
three daughters, Maria Sunukjian, Marilyn Stapleton and Anita Sunukjian
Taraqji Ogali; he was the grandfather of Mark and Russell Stapleton, Sevan
Darakjian and the great grandfather of Julian and Nikolas Stapleton. He was
predeceased by a brother, Sam Sunukjian and two sisters, Flora Malkonian and
Grace Ishkanian.
His interests included gardening, wood turning, stamp and coin collecting.
Funeral service will be held Thursday 10:30am at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc.
276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. William Elwell, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7pm.
Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

the Melrose Methodist Church Melrose, NY or Hoosick Valley Rescue Squad,
Inc. 1440 NY Route 40, Schaghticoke.
