Obituary - Barbara Pirronello
Barbara A. Pirronello, age 95, of Northville, MI passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
Barbara was born on November 29, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the second child of Gerald and Mildred Honsinger.
Barbara graduated from Cooley High School in 1945. After she graduated from
high school, she took secretarial classes in shorthand and typing. Barbara
was hired by Detroit Diesel Allison, and she worked as a purchasing
secretary for 24 years. Barbara married Joseph M. Pirronello on June 28,
1969 and they were married for 17 years. When Barbara retired from GM, she
worked as a wedding coordinator for Mercy Center, and then she was hired to
be a receptionist at Carrington Place Apartments. Both of these part time
jobs allowed Barbara to relocate to Florida for several months during the
harsh Michigan winters. She could often be found at the St. Petersburg
Country Club playing golf and conversing with friends.
Barbara was a longtime resident of Northville. She was a member of the Northville Moose Lodge #1190, and she loved attending Northville's summer concerts and their holiday parades. Since 2017, she lived at Oakmont Northville where she enjoyed playing Bingo, Bunco and various card games. Barbara was her happiest when she was able to visit with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Debra J. Harbison (Douglas) and her son, David E. Hannert (Cindy). She was the beloved grandmother of David (Radka), Melissa (Christopher), Jesse, Chelsea (Justin) and Callan. She was the great-grandmother of Laura, William, Natalie, Sophia and Jace. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Pirronello, her parents Gerald and Mildred Honsinger, her brother Robert Honsinger and her sister, Kathryn Ostrander.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, January 14,
2023 at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Farmington, 33112
Grand River Avenue until the Memorial service at 11:00am. Her burial will be
at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
