Obituary - Brody Mikel Davenport

On an ordinary Monday morning, January 20, 2014, Brody Mikel Davenport, left for work with his bright eyes full of love and his heart full of hope and great expectations for the future he had planned. However, in the briefest of moments God called him home at the young age of 23 years and 6 days.
Brody, beloved son of Mikel and Laura Beth (Andis) Davenport, was born on January 14, 1991 in Durant, OK. He graduated from Durant High School in 2009.
Having many varied interests, Brody, enjoyed working on trucks (he was always on the lookout for a New truck), shooting guns, searching for antiques, decorating & baking. He formed many lifelong friendships from his participation in the Durant High School Band as well as his membership in the State and National FFA chapters. He will always be remembered as a trusted and loyal friend. On reportedly the best and happiest day of his life, August 10, 2013, Brody married his best friend and the love of his life, Taryn Ritter. They established a home in Durant where they were active, faithful members of the 7th and Beech Church of Christ. It was apparent to all that Brody had a great passion & love for the family he was born into as well as his church family.
Brody is survived by his wife, Taryn Davenport, of the home; parents, Laura Beth and Mikel Davenport of Durant, Oklahoma; in-laws, Regina and Mike Ritter of Mead, Oklahoma; siblings, Ashlyn, and Dylan and brother-in-law, Brandon, all of Durant, Oklahoma; grandparents Linda and C.B. Andis of Durant, Oklahoma; James Steven Rice of Cumberland, Oklahoma; Benny and Neoma Davis of Caddo, Oklahoma, Ferrell and Linda Hatch and Corky Ritter of Durant, Oklahoma; great-grandmother, Mattie Hammel of Durant, Oklahoma and numerous other family members and friends.
Brody was preceded in death by his grandmother, Aurice Davenport.
Family hour will be from 6:00-7:00 pm, Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service to honor his life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the 7th and Beech Church of Christ with John Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland Cemetery, in Cumberland, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Ritter, Jack Roberts, Bret Andis, Cole Andis, Chad Rochelle, and Bruce Rochelle.
