Obituary - Charles Osman Laughlin
LAUGHLIN, Charles O. Major USAF (Ret.), 87, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010.
Born in Westphalia, IN, he moved to Largo in 1991 from his native town of Sandborn, IN. He joined the RCAF as a glider pilot when he was 18 and then entered the U.S. Army Air Corp when the U.S, entered WWII and flew P38's out of Italy until the war ended. Recalled during the Korean War, he came back to the then U.S. Air Force and trained future fighter and bomber pilots until he retired.
He loved fishing, both fresh water & salt water and learned to fly fish, tying his own flies. He was an avid golfer and a big fan of NASCAR.
He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Laughlin.
He is survived by his brother, Kenneth R. Laughlin; his children, Chuck (Linda) Laughlin II, Kelly (Steve) Tyler and Kenneth W. Laughlin; his grandchildren, Michelle (Robert) Keglor Casey (Hank) Waggy, Sean Tyler, Megan & Drew Laughlin; and his great- grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah & Kellen Keglor and Charlotte Waggy.
Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, 10:30 am at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
