Dale J. Baker was born November 17, 1926 in Martin County, Indiana to the late Orda J. and Lavena Pearl Blake Baker. He married Helen Honeycutt on September 12, 1953 and she survives. He retired from NWSC Crane in 1973 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy, during World War II.

Also, surviving are two sons, Darrell D. Baker and Harold D. Baker, both of Shoals, three daughters, Mrs. Everett (Sharon Kay) Belcher, and Mrs. Loran G. (Rita Dawn) Qualkenbush, both of Shoals, and Mrs. Bruce (Vondale) Walls of Williams, two sisters, Mrs. John (Margie) Brassine and Mrs. Maxine Wester of Mitchell.
