Obituary - Delmar James Brafford

Delmar James Brafford of Oolitic, IN, died Thursday, September 4, 2003, at his residence. Born on January 8, 1924, he was the son of William and Etta (Blake) Brafford. He married Barbara Spires and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Sue Burget of Bessemer, Ala., one step-son, Rod Baker of Florida; three step-daughters: Wanda LeClear and Sandra Sutherland, both of Mitchell, IN, and Dan Pariser of Carlisle, PA; two sister, Mary Oliver of Oolitic, IN, and Donna Terry of Corpus Christie, TX; one brother, Ward Brafford of Bedford, IN; four granddaughters, two grandsons, eight great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one step-daughter Barbara Schapker.

He was retired from General Motors Powertrain, had worked with the CCC in Oregon during his youth, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served under General Patton during World War II. He was a long-time member of the VFW and former Post Commander of the Oolitic VFW.

Sesrvices for Delmar Brafford will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 8th, at the Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
