ABINGDON, Va. Ernest Fred Hagy passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, August 7, 2014.

He was born in Washington County, Virginia, a son of the late William and Bertha Dye Hagy. He lived his entire life in the Abingdon area and was a farmer. He operated a dairy farm for 36 years and was a member of several farm organizations for several years. He attended Wyndale United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Hagy Rhymer.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Janie Hagy of Abingdon; one special and loving daughter, Sandy Bell and husband, Jim of Kingsport, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Yvonne Lawrence and husband, Nick of Knoxville, Tenn., and Abby Ford and husband, Sam of Kingsport, Tenn.; one great-granddaughter, Nola Sue Lawrence of Knoxville, Tenn.; son-in-law, Randy Rhymer of Kingsport, Tenn.; one sister, Rosa Lee Grubb of Abingdon; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hagy of Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, August, 9, 2014, at 4p.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 3:50 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
