Obituary - Eva L (Colburn) Smith
EVA L. SMITH
Mrs. Eva L. Smith, 76, of 555 W. Carpenter St., formerly of
Mechanicsburg and Decatur, died at 5:52 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Hospital.
She was born in Roby, the daughter of Jonar and Frankie
Langley Colburn.
She married Calvin A. Smith in Sangamon County in 1928 and he died in 1963.
A son, Carl, died in 1967. A grandson, four great-grandsons, nine
brothers
and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Baptist Church, Fraternal
Order of Eagles
and Gold Star Mothers, all of Decatur.
Surviving are six sons, Alfred of San Francisco, Calif.,
Lewis of
Decatur, Charles, Edward, James and Pearl, all of Springfield; four
daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Ethel) Fondel and Mrs. Karl (Edna) Wisher,
both of
Springfield, Mrs. Frances McNeil of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Mrs. Grace
Beddingfield of Arkansas; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Reed of Decatur, Mrs.
Gladys Sparks and Mrs. Velma Nunes, both of Springfield; 39 grandchildren;
33 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Vancil Memorial
Funeral Chapel,
with the Rev. Gerald W. Boutelle officiating. Burial will be in Camp
Butler
National Cemetery.
