Gene Bechdoldt, 64, of Conway, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011.

Born in Batesville, Arkansas, he was a son to the late Lee and Alva (Smith) Bechdoldt.

Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed carpentry and woodworking.

He served in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam war, he attended Arkansas College in Batesville.

Gene worked for A P & L for 22 years, owned his own home construction business, and currently worked for Auto Truck Transport, where his was a union steward for I.A.M.

Gene was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church in Mayflower.

In addition to his parents, two brothers, Robert and Henry Dean Bechdoldt, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years Ellen (Long ) Bechdoldt; daughters, Jeanetta Darley and husband Benjamin of Conway, AR and Leslie Berg and husband Ken of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren: David, Phoebe and Luke Darley of Conway and Caleb Berg of Fort Worth; brothers Jim Bechdoldt of Heber Springs,AR, Bill Bechdoldt of Prague, NE and George Bechdoldt of Hurtsboro, AL; sisters: Ruth Scott of Searcy, AR, Mary Bechdoldt of Monticello, IN and Lois Butler of Little Rock, AR and a host of extended family and friends.


Services will be held 2:00 pm., Saturday, July 30, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Mayflower with Bro. David Fox and Bro. Roy Tilley officiating.

Interment with military honors, will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park with Rodney Bechdoldt, Tom Bechdoldt, Jim Edd Bechdoldt, Shane Butler, Dennis Moore and Mark Hammond serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, July 29, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
