Obituary - Gilbert Eugene Andis

Gilbert E. Andis, 94, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare in Jasper, Indiana. He was born on May 8, 1928 in Odon to Harley and Lena Cleo (Meurer) Andis. Gilbert married his loving wife, Doris (Holstine) Andis on December 11, 1949.

Gilbert was a US Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Parkview Christian Church in Plainville, where he served as an Elder. Gilbert was a Bogard Township Trustee, a farmer and worked in the oil business for 25 years at Marathon Oil Field. He also drove a school bus for 25 years and sold grain bins and other types of farm equipment.

Gilbert was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Doris Andis; son-in-law, Michael Palmer; brothers, Loren Andis and Dwight Andis.

Private family services will be on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Meng Family Funeral Home with Gavin Wilson officiating. Gilbert will be laid to rest in Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington, Indiana following military graveside rites by the Odon VFW Post #9627.
