Obituary - Harrel E Head
	
Harrel Head, 88 of Kingsport, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday 
	July 28, 2012.
	Harrel left the 8th grade to become a coal miner. He moved on to a career in 
	carpentry becoming a Master Cabinet Maker. After moving to Kingsport he 
	worked as manager of  Clinchfield Supply Company before beginning his career 
	with E. I. DuPont De Nemours Company in Old Hickory, TN. After marrying Eva 
	they took a detour to Florida for 2 years where he was a milkman and manager 
	of Cash and Carry Lumber Company. Harrel was offered a position by DuPont in 
	Brevard, NC for 5 years, then to Newark, DE for 17 years until his 
	retirement. He and his wife Eva moved back to Kingsport in 1987 where they 
	spent time together in painting classes and traveling on bus trips to all 
	50 states.
	
	He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mattie Head; two sisters, 
	Hassie Head Pannell and Orie Head Dean; two brothers, Rutherford Head and 
	Truman Head.
	
	Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Evadeane "Eva" 
	(Mitchell) Head, two daughters, Mary Kay Mowell and husband Allen, Carolyn 
	Ann Allen; two sons, Harrel James "Jim" Head and wife Betty, Thomas Mike 
	Head; step-daughter, Patricia A. Moody Barr; six grandchildren, Rick Mowell, 
	Chris Mowell Glotzbach, Kim Bowen, Kevin Haynes, Carmen Jacobs and Carla 
	Austin; one sister, Shirley Head Mellons; several great grandchildren; one 
	great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
	
	The family will receive friends in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel at 
	Oak Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday July 31, 2012 from 2:00 until 3:00 PM. The 
	funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Charles Roberts and 
	Pastor Wayne Baker, officiating.
	
	The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Wellmont 
	Holston Valley Medical Center, Madison House Assisted Living, Amedisys 
	Hospice, Management and staff at Mama's House Buffett, Church Hill Nursing 
	Home and special caregivers; Janice Tester, Tina Hughes, Gwenin Dietrich, 
	Paula Tate and Kathy Atwell.
	
	The staff of Oak Hill Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations is honored to 
	serve the family of Mr. Harrel Head.
