Mrs. Helen Louise (Street) Weir Williams, 88, of Fulton, Mo., formerly of Pineville, Mo., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at her home.
Helen entered this life on Dec. 8, 1922, in Broken Bow, Neb., one of four children born to the late Guy and Ruth (Beal) Street. In 1929, her family moved to Topeka, Kan., and shortly there after to Lawrence, Kan. She graduated from Lawrence High School in the class of 1940.
On Aug. 1, 1941, in Camp Robinson, Ark., she was united in marriage to Sgt. Robert C. Weir and to this union two sons and three daughters were born. They resided in the states of Arkansas, Texas and Kansas before moving to a 40-acre farm on Big Sugar Creek near Pineville in 1952. In 1959, they moved their family to Kansas City, Mo., only to return to Pineville in 1969. Robert passed away on Sept. 4, 1974, and six years later she married Mr. Vergil Williams, who had seven children she loved as her own. She retired in 1985 in Anderson, where she had been employed by the Division of Social Services for 15 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pineville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Robert C. Weir and Vergil Williams; an infant daughter, Marion Jane Weir; an infant granddaughter, Joyous Heather Jackson; and two brothers, Richard and Robert Street.
Helen is survived by two sons, Martin A. Weir and wife, Alice, of Richmond, Texas, and Ronald E. Weir, of St. Joseph, Mo.; two daughters, Jeanie Woods, of Anderson, and Roberta Weir, of Fulton; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four stepdaughters, Connie Burns and husband, Joe, of Anderson, Edith Kimbrough, of Jasper, Mo., Donna Brattin and husband, Alan, of Wheaton, Mo., and Mary Banks and husband, Ervin, of Goodman, Mo.; three stepsons, Vergil Williams and wife, Betty, of Anderson, Dale Williams, of Stella, Mo., and Danny Williams and wife, Alesha, of Neosho, Mo.; 11 step grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Oakson and husband, Bob, of Lecompton, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Olive Street, of Tonganoxie, Kan.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastors Frank Crosby and Tom Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineville Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Ron Weir, Martin Weir, Mark Weir, Robert Fisher, Vergil Williams and Joe Banks. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the American Heart
Association and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral
Home in Anderson.
