BRISTOL, Va. King Stuard Terry Sr., age 82, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at his home.

He was retired from UMWA Coal Mines. He also enjoyed farming and logging with his brothers.

He was born to the late King David Terry and Mattie McElraft Terry on June 30, 1930; he is also preceded in death by two wives, Annis Marie Worley Terry and Phyllis Ann Powell Terry; and companion, Vivian Carol Morgan; son, Jerry Lee Terry; daughter, Martha Virginia Terry; four brothers, E.E. Terry, John Terry, Charlie Terry, and Morris Curd; and two sisters, Roberta Eastridge and Doris Curd Smith.

He is survived by three sons, King Stuard Terry Jr., and wife Janie of Glade Spring, Va., Mark D. Terry and companion Vita of Chilhowie, Va., and Gary M. Terry and his wife, Carla of Sugar Grove, Va.; step-son, Kevin Ray Powell and wife Samantha of Bristol, Va.; five daughters, Pam Terry Severt and husband Ted of Konarock, Va., Debbie Terry Cuddy and husband Rick of Meadowview, Va., Kathy Terry Moore and husband John of Charlotte, N.C., Wanda Terry Kealey and husband Jeff of Glade Spring, and Angela Marie Ball and husband Brady of Bristol, Va.; brother, J.D. Terry of Castle Rock, Wash.; brother-in-law, Preston Smith of Meadowview; four sisters-in-law, Marcie Terry of Abingdon, Cora Terry of Meadowview, Hazel Terry of Abingdon, and Meryl Curd of Meadowview; 16 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Cuddy and the Rev. Buster Mullins officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Spring Baptist Cemetery where Greg Curd, Elmer Eastridge, Roy Eastridge, Brady Ball, Larry Herron, and Charles Bailey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dalton Powell, Dustin Powell, James Terry, Wayne Terry, David Terry, and David Dingus.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to caregiver and step-grandchild Dalton Powell for his loving kindness and excellent assistance. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
