Obituary - Landon Ervin "Squirrel" Gill

Landon E. (Squirrel) Gill, 69, of Roanoke, Va., passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010. He was a very beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a United States Army veteran and was retired from Fulton Truck. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed NASCAR Racing.

Mr. Gill was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances, Brenda, and Christine; his brother, Fred; a stepson, Mike; and his favorite nephew and fishing buddy, Ronnie. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Campbell Gill; his children, Martha, Vicky, Diane, and Donny; a brother, Gene; sisters, Linda and Peggy; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a special greatgrandchild, Paola; his best friend, Anne; sons-in-law, James and Micky; and a daughter-in-law, Donna.

Services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Parkway Wesleyan Church. Pastor Mike Lauridsen will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the DAV Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
