Obituary - Leta Maxine (Beaver) Bowhay

Leta Maxine Bowhay, resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Shawn Manor Nursing Home. She was 90.
The service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday Jan. 19, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Spencer, officiating. Burial will then follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.
Maxine was born on Oct. 9, 1922, to Dan Beaver and Margaret Frantie Buie Beaver in Kendrick. She grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1941. She was married to Wendell Eugene Bowhay on Oct. 17, 1942, in Shawnee. She was employed for Kress’s and was also employed as a Telephone Operator, but for most of her life was a homemaker.
She loved bowling and playing volleyball in her younger years. She also
enjoyed watching OU and OSU football on TV and also reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharron Craft and husband Tim of Ponca
City; son, Danny Bowhay and wife Debbie of West Port, Wash.; grandchildren;
Jason Bartlett and wife Sherri, and Crystal Knowles all of Ponca City,
Patrick Bowhay and wife Stevie of Guthrie; and great-grandchildren, Violet
Knowles and Keegan Bowhay.
Her husband preceded her death on May 16, 2009, after 67 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, June Ieichmer Jones.
Mom will be loved and missed by her family forever. She was so special to
us.
The family would like to thank everyone at Shawn Manor for the care and love
shown to mom while she was there. Words can not express how much you were
appreciated. We know she will be missed as “the nursing home greeter” at the
front door.
