Obituary - Mary Jane (Sipes) Wilson

PEKIN ~ Mary Jane Wilson, 90, of 1113 Charlotte Street, passed away at 7:55
a.m. Sunday, September 14, 2008 at her home.
Born May 15, 1918 in Chicago to Henry P. and Jenny (Coventry) Sipes, she
married John Ralph Wilson on June 13, 1938 in Chicago. He died
September 25, 1999 in South Carolina.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marge, one
daughter-in-law, one nephew and two grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Charles (Christine) Wilson of Manito, Jack Wilson
of Chicago, and James (Betty) Wilson of Pekin; one daughter, Jeannette
(James) Duffield of Gilbert, Arizona; twenty grandchildren, fifty
great-grandchildren, and twenty-three great-great grandchildren; one sister,
Lorraine Skala of Manhattan; and four nephews.
She was a head chef for Hinsdale Tuberculosis Sanitorium for twenty years,
retiring in 1980. Prior to that, she worked as a line manager in a
factory in Chicago during World War II and was a sales representative at
CARPS in Pekin.
Mary Jane was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she was a
member of the Concordia Society and the Bible study group.
She was a member of the Pekin Women of the Moose and the Miller Center,
where she started the Miller Melodies and the Bible study group. She
graduated from Parker High School in Chicago in 1936.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Rodger P. Abatie will
officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and also one hour before the
funeral Thursday at the church. Cremation will be accorded following
the funeral.
