Patricia Gwen Carter, 78, of Bowling Green, formerly of Big Stone Gap, Va., passed away Dec. 4, 2013, at The Medical Center at 10:09 p.m. Patricia was born May 6, 1935, in St. Charles, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olin Doss and Nelle Whiteaker Middleton, and a sister, Jane Audia.

Patricia was a retired jeweler and loved going to work at Goldsmith Jewelry Shop with her family. She was a lady of the Christian faith, who loved her husband, children and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Billy Lee Carter; three sons, William Ray Carter of Bowling Green, Craig Alan Carter (Diane) of Alvaton and Chris Edward Carter-Flitz (Richard Carter-Flitz) of Bowling Green; two brothers, Olin Doss Jr. (Rebecca) of Columbus, Ga., and Robert Doss of Pennington Gap, Va.; also seven wonderful grandchildren, Brent Carter (Jessica) and Madison McIvor (Robert) and Dylan Carter, all of Bowling Green, Ashton, Mason, Rylee and Anslee Carter, all of Florida; and aunt and uncle Jean and Joe Skidmore of Pennington Gap, Va. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Patricia chose cremation, and there will be a private memorial service at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
