BRISTOL, Va. – Paul W. Denton, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. 
He was born Oct. 18, 1918, a son of the late Garnet and Kate Lee Baker Denton. He was a lifetime resident of Washington County and a barber for 62 years. Mr. Denton was a farmer and also a charter member of Revival Center Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a leader and member of "Denton Quartet" for at least 35 years. He loved to help people and take care of the sick and needy. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he loved people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Vaden Hobbs, and brothers, Baxter, Clarence, Hurse, Belve and Ernest. 
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ola F. Whaley Denton; sons, Paul David Lee Denton and wife Joan, Marvin Edward Denton and wife Maggie and Arlin L. Denton and wife Peggy; daughter, Phyllis Ann Hobbs and husband L.C.; sisters, Maudie Campbell and husband Bob and Eunice Cunningham and husband Roy; brother, the Rev. Donald Denton and wife Barbara; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nora Lee Denton and Ackie Denton; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 7, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Revival Center Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lyon Smith, the Rev. Leo Rhymer and the Rev. Bob Campbell officiating. The burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. 
Pallbearers will be Brian Denton, Greg Denton, Keith Denton, Tony Denton, Shean Hobbs and David Nunley. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Puckett, Raymond Burnette, Edd Davis, Creed Dye, Dan Wise, Mason Viers, Fred Dale, Dr. Fred Greear and Dr. J. Greg Griffith. 
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
