Obituary - Perry M Meadows
Perry M. Meadows of Bristol, Tenn., age 93, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home, on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at NHC after a brief illness. He was a retired tool and die maker from Raytheon Company. He was born in Grundy, Virginia, but had lived in Bristol, for 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, John A. and Matilda Meadows; his first wife, Leah; his only daughter, Wilma Tipton; sisters, Little Lou, Clercy and Jane; and brothers, Loren, Harrison, Noah, and Dewey.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of the home; one son, Bobby Meadows and wife Nancy, of Bristol, Tenn.; a sister, Rachel Cook of Grundy; a brother, Andy and wife Lima, of Bluefield; and his son-in-law, Jerry Tipton of Big Stone Gap, VA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Heather Gilbert of Big Stone Gap, Gracie Tompkins and husband Bradley, of Pound, Va., Robert Meadows, Patrick Meadows and wife Jennifer, and Chad Meadows and wife Kristy, all of Bristol, Tenn.; step-sons, Fred Booher and David Booher and wife Phyllis; eight great- grandchildren, Hope, Amanda, Brookley, and Hannah Meadows, all of Bristol, Tenn., Clayton Tipton and Dantae Teague of Big Stone Gap, and Emily and Thomas Thompkins of Pound, Va.; and a step granddaughter, Amy Hampton and husband Scott, of Bristol, Va.
He was a long time member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Bristol, Virginia, where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m., on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Blevins Funeral Home, 417 Lee Street, Bristol, Virginia. A Funeral service will be conducted following the visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ross Mangrum officiating.
Interment will be held following the service at Mt. View Cemetery, Bristol, Va. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
