Rev. Lewis Clarke
Rev. Lewis Clarke, age 85, of Bristol, VA passed from this life into Heaven on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Cambridge House.

He was a graduate of Ouachita College, AK and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary of Fort Worth, TX. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Navy where he was wounded and the Korean War serving in the Air Force.

He pastored in Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. River Bend Baptist Church was where he started and finished his preaching life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.B. “Pat” and Laura Rock Clarke; his wife, Ethelene Clarke in April, 2011 and one son, Jonathan Clarke.

Survivors include two sons, David Clarke of Greenville, TN and Dwight and Dr. Cynthia Clarke of Delhi, LA; one grandson, Brian Clarke of Kingsport, TN; three granddaughters, Chelsey Marshall and husband, Ryan of Lafayette, LA; Mallory Clarke of Delhi, LA and Kimberly Thompson of Brunswick, GA; one sister, Peggy Dye; nieces, Karen Dye and Terry Parks, both of Bristol, VA; three great-grandchildren; one-great-great-grandchild; one brother-in-law, J.C Hiler and wife, Gladys of Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Ball of Shelby, NC and Mrs. Anna Bell Townsend of Bristol, TN.

Memorials may be sent to Euclid Avenue Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, 900 Euclid Ave., Bristol, VA 24201 or to one’s church.  
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 21, 2011 in Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Eric Godfrey, Pastor Bob Jones and Rev. Bill Peeler officiating and Military Rites conducted by the Highlands Fellowship Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Hiram Taylor, Arnold Mellenger, Marion Dugger, Dean Booher, Lee Roberts, Brian Clarke and Harvey Spence. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., prior to the service at Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum.
