Obituary - Roy Lee Kaylor Sr
CHURCH HILL - Roy Kaylor Sr., 84, Church Hill,
passed away Saturday (Feb. 14, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical
Center.
Born in Wise County, Va., Mr. Kaylor was a retired accountant
from the Tennessee Eastman Company. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S.
Army during World War II, where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member
of the DAV and a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Roy loved spending time on his farm and tending his gardens.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Coy and Sally Kate
Johnson Kaylor ; and one brother, Ralph Kaylor .
Surviving are his wife, Jean Kaylor of the home; daughter,
Martha and husband David McCampbell, Surgoinsville; son, Lee Kaylor
Jr. and wife Deana, Weber City, Va.; sisters, Edna Bishop, Kingsport, Ruby
Kitzmiller, Kingsport, Farrah Ruth (Tommie) Fannon, Atlanta, Ga.; brothers,
Ray W. (Bill) Kaylor , Clinchport, Va., James Kaylor , Corpus
Christi, Tex.; sister-in-law, Bonnie Kaylor , Belleview Fla.;
granddaughters, Audrey McCampbell and Jennifer Ramey; great-grandson, Isaiah
Ramey; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber
City, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. John Sheppard officiating.
Military honors by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW will follow the
service in Holston View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Fannon, David McCampbell, Tyler Fletcher, Mack
Edwards, Phil Owens, Glen Jones and Tommy Johnson.
Special thanks to good neighbor, Glen Jones, doctors and nurses of Wellmont
Holston Valley Hospital emergency room and Wilcox Hall.
