Obituary - William "Bill" Greer

Mr. William (Bill) Greer, age 70, a well-known resident of the Black Hollow Community, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 due to injuries from an apparent fall while hunting.

He was born in Washington County, VA on May 23, 1940, a son of the late Noah and Anna Lee Greer. He was a longtime resident of the area and had previously lived in Indiana where he was employed by General Motors. He had previously built houses and worked at Burlington Industries before retiring from Zenith Fuel Systems. Mr. Greer loved to hunt and was a member of the North America Hunting Club. He attended Greendale Chapel.

 In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bud Greer and Jim Greer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis G. Greer of Abingdon; two sons, William (Billy) Greer of Indianapolis, Indiana and Chuck Greer and wife, Tracy of Bristol, TN; one daughter, Donna Greer of Indianapolis, Indiana; one step-son, Terry Allen Ketchum and wife, Becky of Abingdon; one brother, Tommy Greer and wife, Mary of Bristol, VA; five sisters, Betty Williams, Mary Nell Marsh and husband, Wayne, Shirley Treadway, Nancy King and husband, Mike and Patsy Worley and husband, Ronnie all of Bristol, VA; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 8 P.M. Thursday, November 4, 2010 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 P.M. Thursday evening. Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday at the Greendale Chapel Cemetery on Rt. 700 in Washington County. Family and friends wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M. Active pallbearers will be Darrel Long, Charlie Greer, Dennis Burnette, Michael Burnette, Tony Williams and Justin Wilson.
