Winfred Lee Lanningham (better known as Wint or W.L.) age 85 of Jonesville, VA was born in St. Charles, VA on Sunday, September 19, 1929 the 6th of 11 children to the late Charlie and Ida Lanningham. He passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Pennington Gap, VA.

He joined the Army January 23, 1951 and went to Korea and served two years as a Corporal.  He returned home and married Betty Williams October 24, 1953. He had been a coal mine operator for L & M coal company and had also worked in logging, trucking, farming and cattle business. He was co-founder of the Horse and Hunting Club in the 1970s.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Ralph Lanningham, Homer Lanningham, June Lanningham, Gerald Lanningham, his sisters Joyce Gibbs, Loretta Holman and Lelia Britt.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty Jean Williams Lanningham of the home, three daughters Dianne Collins and husband, Jim of Jonesville, VA, Phyllis Province and husband, Jim of Jonesville, VA and Janet Neal and husband, Frank of Rose Hill, VA, his grandchildren Shannon Dwyer and husband, Bob of Wise, VA, Danny Crabtree and wife, Michelle of Pennington Gap, VA, Lindsey McCurry and husband, Josh of Rose Hill, VA, Morgan Province of Jonesville, VA and Ivy Barber of Rose Hill, VA, three great-grandchildren Riley and Dylan McCurry and Leah Crabtree. He is also survived by two sisters Barbara Poore of Pennington Gap, VA and Geneva Farmer of New Castle, DE, one brother Robert Lanningham and wife, Mona of Pennington Gap, VA and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Jonesville, VA with Rev. Ray Bowlin and Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM Thursday until the time of the service. The graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. The family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Friday to go to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.  We are located at 29521 Wilderness Rd.
