Miscellaneous Information

1) Matthias served in the Revolutionary War.  He was a private in the Flying Camp of Frederick Co, MD (Middle District Troop), serving under Captain Valentine Creagar.  We have a copy of the list of soldiers and an index to Revolutionary War veterans.

2) We have a copy of the will of Matthias's father, Wilhelm Andis, which contains a list of heirs including Matthias. 

3) Matthias went to Washington Co, VA with his brother John Andis and sister Margaretha and her husband Caspar Fleenor.

4) We believe that Matthias might possibly have been married to Elizabeth ____ before marrying Susanna Thomas. We are not sure enough to add her as a possible wife, but will continue to pursue verification of this.

5) Inventory of Matthias Andis dated 21 Sep 1810, John Fleenor, Adm.; Estate Sale Accounting dated 22 Dec 1814; Estate Settlement dated 23 May 1833.

6) On March 15, 1814, Jacob Teeter was named guardian for Andrew Andris, orphan of Matthias Andris, deceased. Bond: $200.  Surety Jacob Shoemaker

7) On 20 Aug 1816, John Fleenor was named guardian of Christiana, Elizabeth, Susannah, John, Isaac, Abraham, James, Nancy V and Maryann Andis, children of Matthias Andis, deceased. Bond $2000, sureties John Shutters and Abraham Gobble.

8) On 20 Jun 1820, Peter Minnick was named guardian of Isaac, Abraham, James, Nancy and Mary Andis, orphans of Matthias Andis, deceased. Bond $500 surety Thomas Fulkerson.

9) We have various documents regarding land transactions by Matthias and his heirs.  They include purchase, sale and distribution of land in Washington Co, VA.  These are very important documents to our research as they conclusively tie Matthias and his children together.
